Welcome to Monterey

Ocean view homes in a welcoming, fun-loving city.
Renowned for its abundance of marine life, unbeatably fresh seafood, and range of inviting restaurants, the welcoming city of Monterey has long been a favorite among vacationers and prospective homeowners in search of their next investment or permanent residence. Enjoying year-round temperate weather, spectacular coastal scenery, and some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the state, it’s not surprising that Monterey’s real estate market is always abuzz with eager property buyers in search of their own little slice of paradise.
Sequentially inhabited by the Rumsen Ohlone Native American tribe, Spanish explorers, receivers of Mexican land grants, and finally American settlers, Monterey has a rich and storied history that has been preserved within the city’s numerous historical buildings, quaint streets, and somewhat rural atmosphere despite its many available amenities and attractions.
Today, Monterey plays host to a variety of properties, from charming single-family homes to expansive mansions overlooking the ocean. Thanks to its thriving creative population, as well as numerous active families and individuals who own homes in the city, Monterey has developed an exceptionally engaged community that takes great pride in the local beauty and high quality of life enjoyed by most of the city’s residents.

Local Lifestyle

As a welcoming, open-minded coastal city, life in Monterey is relaxed and centered around the friendly community and its many opportunities to socialize with neighbors and make lifelong friends. Surrounded by immense natural beauty, most Monterey residents take full advantage of the city’s walking paths, hiking trails, and green spaces on sunny days while sheltering in one of the city’s trendy cafes during stormier weather.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

With its roots in seafood canning and industrial constructions, Monterey recently underwent extensive development, transforming the city into a hub of dining and retail opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy. The iconic Cannery Row, once the heart of Monterey’s canning industry, is now home to numerous eclectic stores and boutiques, including the Carmel Honey Company, Fine Art Turkish Grand Bazaar, and the beloved It’Sugar candy shop. Surfing enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to the On The Beach Surf Shop, where customers can stock up on trendy swimsuits, surfing gear, and everything else necessary for a day of fun in the water.
Despite the city’s laid-back feel, Monterey hosts a variety of very popular restaurants and bars, including the Montrio Bistro, which is one of the city’s five greenest eateries and serves elevated European and American comfort cuisine. Alternatively, Rosine’s Restaurant is an excellent choice for dinner with the family and serves a diverse menu of all-American favorites and large desserts. And, for those who prefer hole-in-the-wall eateries serving incredible flavors and immaculate vibes, don’t miss Duffy’s Tavern and Family Restaurant, where patrons can unwind over hearty pub grub, ice-cold beers, and fun cocktails.

Things to Do

There’s always something exciting going on in Monterey Bay. Thanks to the city’s engaged, welcoming community, residents are often drawn out into the streets by several popular events, including the Monterey Jazz Festival, which holds the title of the longest continuously-running jazz festival in the world. The multi-day celebration brings acclaimed artists, delicious food vendors, and incredible music to the streets of Monterey, and is a great choice for any music lover or social butterfly. If more unassuming, quieter company is on order, a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium is always a delight, bringing visitors up close with some of the region’s most spectacular marine life.
And, for a nautical dining and shopping experience, don’t miss the brightly decorated Old Fisherman’s Wharf and its popular restaurants and shopping stores, including Morning Star Pearls, Harbor House Gifts, and the lovely Crab Louie’s Bistro.

As a hub of activity on an otherwise rugged coast, Monterey residents can expect access to some of the region’s best schools, including:
